Power steering and and light and traction light won't go off.

Hello, are you saying the warning lights were not on before removing the cables? What was the purpose of removing the cables? When warning lights are on, it indicates a malfunction with the related system. It could also be due to low battery and vehicle voltage / power. You may have to clear codes if it is a power concern alone, and it's resolved. It is possible that a power surge could have blown fuses also, so check those to ensure all are good.
