My car will accelerate on its own, randomly, without warning.

Dmb32 id say yep it sounds like they r all morons .any mechanic should know if u say the accelerater is doing its thing on its own then it would obviously be something to do with or around the throttle .meaning that and the cruise control would come to mind right off for them to dsay its not possible yea theyr full of it ..but i do have a question .im wondering if it has anything to do with my cruise control giving me so much hell to activate ? I also read on a site that if you dont turn ur control to the off position then its possible for it to activate at any given time ..which is crazy bcuz i never think to switch mine off ..my 2004 has a couple of times while stoooed at a redlight like gun up on it own like it was gona take off but of course i press harder on the brake and it just went away ..This seems extremely dangerous .its got to be an error in workmanship /faulty construction.but do we think they will aknowledge this BEFORE something tragic occurs

i been having the same problem with my rendezvous and i called to see if there was a recall and nothing so have you found out what is wrong yet?

Hi, since you fixed the problem with acceleration, are you still having a problem? My car is accelerating and so far my bill is at $629 and they still can't find the problem.

I used to have an 03 Rendezvous and never had an issue. Now I just bought an 06 from my mechanic of all people and I got on the highway and noticed it would do like little power surges. It felt like those people that accelerate and let off then accelerate and let off which seriously makes me nuts! LOL!!! I did take video, the RPM needle would go up slightly then back where it was. It's not constant but I did notice any speed over like 60-65mph. Cruise control or not. I read your comment below about it being the idle air control valve which is a relief. Thank you!
