check engine light on daylight hours not on at night?

Hello, doesn't make a ton of sense, unless the circuitry of the instrument cluster is malfunctioning. Or, perhaps illumination of the cluster which changes when the headlights come on affects it. If there is no diagnostic trouble code in the engine's processor, there is no concern with a "check engine" light related concern.
