A/c light comes on with auto heat control no matter what the outside temperature. This morning it was -14 F and it went on. I can't find anywhere in the manual that it's supposed to.

The light may turn on, but at that temperature, the air conditioning compressor will not operate anyway. Keep in mind that the air conditioning system does perform an important task until about 32 degrees by operating to dehumidify the interior of the vehicle, even when the heat is on.
