Have there been any issues with exterior trunk pad? Also passenger seat warmer?

Hello, what is an "exterior trunk pad", and how does it "work"? Just not familiar with the term or what it could functionally do. The passenger seat heaters are operated by a module, switch, wiring, and element. Testing is required to determine if the pad is failed, or other components.
