What is your question?
Friend "mechanic" changed tranny filter 3 months ago. Leaks at pan ever since. Car is mint. 62000 miles. Thinking gasket not seated right or heard I should have used a cork gasket. I have to fix asap; losing 1 qt every 3 days. Hope bolts aren't cross threaded or over torqued. Have to fix tomorrow, any tips from a pro would be apreciated. Thanks

Don't use a cork gasket - the gasket you have should be sufficient and reusable provided it is not damaged in any way. (if you have a cork gasket now, then by all means replace it...) It's a good idea to add a thread locker (like Loctite 242, or equivalent) to reduce the chance of pan fluid leakage. However, one quart of fluid every three days is rather excessive - I would be seeking another source for the leak. It would have to be pretty darn wet and leaky to lose that much.
2002 Regal 3.8....I went to buy a new gasket for trans pan when changing fluid and filter and dealer told me new gasket is not needed. That pan has MANY bolts. Once ALL of the bolts are finger tightened, work your way around, tightening each a little at a time. Best to use a torque wrench. Make sure ALL of the bolts are equally tight.
