What is your question?
I’m hearing a noise that sounds like a bad axle. I was told it was a front end differential. I thought it needed an alignment because it’s all over the road when I’m driving. I took it to have an alignment and that’s when they told me they couldn’t do an alignment because it was the front end differential.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Worse while I’m driving. I can’t keep it in the road. It’s almost like it needs an alignment. I was told it was a front end differential.
How long has your 2006 Buick Rainier had this problem?
A few months. I haven’t been able to drive the vehicle. I was told it could lock up.

Hello, if your front wheel differential has an internal problem, it could cause excessive play in your front axles, which could allow the wheels to be in erratic positions. This is what I'm guessing you are being told. As always, seek a second opinion, but it indeed sounds like your hands and eyes on inspection coupled with your description of the concern and the noise would seem to suggest the diagnosis is accurate. https://repairpal.com/repair-shops
