Why is my heater working and not my ac

Maybe the air conditioner compressor is not working. Do you hear it turn on when the turning on the AC?

turn the a/c on hi,with engine running.look under hood at a/c compressor clutch on the end of the compressor.it should be turning when the a/c is on.is it?
