Was told it could be the torque converter doesn't sound right to me

Torque converter 'shudder' is like driving over rumble strips on the highway .. Misfire is a slower jerking or bumping sensation which does indeed occur most often when the engine is under load, in the overdrive gear and under light acceleration .. Therefore I'm inclined to agree with you, however the torque converter can't be completely eliminated as a possibility .. I suspect misfiring cylinder(s) is what you're experiencing .. Misfire just hasn't been corrected yet... Highly recommend having 'experienced' mechanic test drive. ("Has been tuned" isn't quite enough detail - a lot of variants still exist) â–ªï¸https://repairpal.com/repair-shopsâ–ªï¸
