Can maf stop car from start

Have no code no lights anyways . What happened was I drove to car wash & it just died but started back up went on got there it died again didn't start so I went got a gallon of gas put it in it started & drove a few days then died and took about 20 minutes to start drove home died again did start for most of day that evening it started & ran took kid to school died and has not started. I changed filter no good by the way the motor is out of some other car it a 96 or newer I think the map sensors are in different spot
