Why is my temp gauge at the quarter mark between cold and normal if my car has been off for 3 hours

I'm at work so my car has been off for a while 3 to 4 hours. I come outside for brake and as soon as I start it my temp gauge goes straight to the quarter mark between cold and normal

What makes this problem better or worse?

Idk that's why I'm asking a mechanic
