gas gauge keeps fluxuating

the arrow on the gas guage fluctuatates from one end to the other & the yellow light comes on saying empty,BUT CAR IS NOT EMPTY AS IT WAS JUST FILLED WITH GAS RECENTLY?????

What makes this problem better or worse?
