Using a quality scan tool and a wiring diagram a skilled technician can test all the inputs and the outputs to verify they are operating as designed. If power, ground and all inputs and outputs are eliminated than that leaves either a programing issues or a hardware issue. Because control modules are not inexpensive and often need programing, this is something you will likely want to have a quality shop take a look at and diagnose before assuming whatever is happening is a failed computer.
