What is your question?

As I was driving I heard a hissing sound underneath the hood. As I continued to drive I was unable to drive pass 20 mph. When I stepped on the gas I heard a fluttering noise. I took it to the mechanic and he said it wont go in reverse but will drive forward. Estimated cost? Is it worth fixing?
