What is your question?
Long post So my starter went out on my 1992 Buick LeSabre. I replaced that then it seemed that I had a charging issue as in the alternator was not providing power back to the battery. With that being said I had to replace the battery as well. So now we come to today for some reason when I go hook up the battery (with the key in my pocket) I connect the positive then the negative and when I touch the negative to the battery terminal the i hear dinging in the car and the dash lights (dummy light) are illuminated as if I had to describe it the car is stuck in accessory mode. Then I go to start the car and it just cranks and doesn’t fire as I continue to crank and crank it will fire and run for about 3 to 5 seconds and turn off. Any suggestions or help in this matter would be greatly appreciated thank you

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. So sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. It sounds like your LeSabre might have an issue with the ignition switch or a short somewhere in the electrical system. The fact that your car is acting like it's in accessory mode when you connect the battery could mean the ignition switch is stuck or malfunctioning. Also, if the car cranks but only fires up for a few seconds, it could be a fuel delivery issue, possibly related to a faulty fuel pump or relay. You may also want to check all the ground connections, as a loose or corroded ground can cause similar problems. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
