Hello, sounds like an engine performance concern that has caused the engine's processor to detune the engine to protect if from damage, and protect you from a safety concern. The only step to take moving forward is to perform an engine performance diagnostic test and find out what area to begin troubleshooting in by retrieving the stored data from the failure in the form of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's), then following through to find the source of trouble.
Hi This is my car. Got it home and the temp was way overheating. Put a new Coolant Temperature Sensor and new antifreeze. Nope not it. Maybe a Waterpump? what else dave could it b
A coolant temperature sensor would rarely -- if ever - affect the vehicle in a way you have described. An overheating condition is most often related to: 1) Thermostat not opening fully when needed 2) Cooling system flow issue - such as clogged radiator or restriction somewhere 3) Engine cooling fans not working properly 4) Air pocket in the cooling system not purged during a previous repair 5) Internal engine coolant leaks causing exhaust gases to get into the cooling system I wouldn't guess at anything here. Water pump would be an unlikely cause -- it's possible but more rare that the impeller of the water pump would detach and prevent coolant circulation. Good luck.
