Hello, When you give your car a little "gas" you are actually giving it a little air. This makes me wonder about the condition of the idle air control valve in your vehicle. The idle air control valve (IACV) allows only enough air into the engine to start, and run at idle. When you press the accelerator, the throttle body opens, and air is let into the engine. Then engine control module will decide how much gas to send to the engine, based on the amount of air you have let in. When the IACV is clogged, the engine will not have enough air to start and run properly at idle, and opening the throttle body will allow enough air in to start. If you prefer to look into it yourself, you would need to remove the intake air hose from the air filter to the throttle body, and peer inside the throttle body. There will be a small hole inside, and that hole is the port for the IACV. If it is clogged, clean it, and see if that clears up the hard start. If you would prefer to have the vehicle diagnosed, see this link for certified shops in your area: http://repairpal.com/buick-within-10-miles-of-jupiter-florida-33458
Old post but for the sake of people coming here for more answers... My 05 Lacrosse had the same issue, turned out the throttle body was very dirty and gummed up. Easy to remove, used throttle body/carb cleaner and a black plastic bristle brush to clean the butterfly valve and it eliminated the hard start issue. Just don't forget to plug the vacuum line back in.
