how do i remove the shift knob

Hi this is Dusty, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team. Typically, manufacturers will use either a clip or set screw somewhere in the shifter assembly to secure it to the transmission selector shaft. Some will have a mechanism inside the shifter that needs to be overridden with a little force coupled with slight rotation of the shifter. YouTube is a great source for guidance, be sure to do your due diligence beforehand. Damage to the interior trim is possible, and sometimes likely if the proper precautions aren't taken.
