do you have to remove the blower fan to get to the resister that controls fan speeds?

Here is it from the shop manual: Service and Repair BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT REMOVAL PROCEDURE 1. Remove the right side instrument panel insulator. 2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor resistor. 3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor. 4. Loosen both screws from the forward blower motor resistor. IMPORTANT: The blower motor resistor opening is slotted. Access is extremely limited. 5. Remove the screws from the rear blower motor resistor. 6. Remove the blower motor resistor. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Install the blower motor resistor. IMPORTANT: Align the blower motor resistor forward retaining slots onto the screws and seat the blower motor control processor against HVAC module. 2. Install the rear blower motor resistor screw. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Tighten the screw to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) . 3. Tighten the forward blower motor resistor screws. Tighten the screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) . 4. Connect the electrical connector to the blower motor. 5. Connect the electrical connector to the blower motor resistor. 6. Install the right side instrument panel insulator. Zee
I have removed glove box to see better.--Is the resister that module that fastens to air way to leftof fan/motor ? I have purchased a new resister from Advance, and it does not seam to have samy plug-in connector. and is a different shape...THE QUESTION STILL IS--DO I HAVE TO REMOVE MOTOR/FAN ASSEMBLY before getting to resister.?
