I have an intake gasket leaking coolant in the back of my 2002 Century Buick engine. The shop told me it shorted out my starter. If I replace the starter will this happen again in a short amount of time?

The coolant on these engine's would leak from the lower intake where the heads meet the intake. The coolant leak itself is very labor intensive. Coolant can become corrosive and carry ELECTROLYSIS Meaning coolant can carry electrical current. I have never heard of a starter failing due to coolant but anything is possible. I have seen a starter fail due getting covered in oil. The starter may or may not fail if replaced again you would have to fix the coolant leak to be safe.
