why does my 01 Buick sometimes make a clunk sound when being started .

What is your question?

When i go to start my car , it makes a "clunking" sound and takes a couple seconds to start. It does not do this every time, but when it does t scares me. Also when i accelerate I notice a jerk or a kick back , especially uphills! If anyone could help that would be great!
