What is your question?
Zed overheating. Thought it was gauge malfunction because it would climb to hot fast and then within seconds drop to normal. It don't do it when 1st driving car for the day only when I'd stop and turn it off somewhere then restart it. Last week it shot to hot made pop noise and fluid covered windshield. Expansion tank had busted down one side. Purchased new tank and installed. Let car run awhile seemed fine. Drove 2 miles down road and it started going to hot again. pulled over. It cooled down drove it about 2 miles again and same thing. I can find no leaks anywhere. However heater is only blowing cool air and when over heating turning heater on high did not help. Dash Light shows engine light and cooling system But there's been 4 or 5 lights on dash since my grandpa gave me car. He said he had the issues repaired just never reset lights. Had car 1 year no issues. Grandpa died this year. Don't want to blow up car but have no money to pay mechanic so fixing myself. Any ideals? Thank u

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Z4. It sounds like your BMW may have an issue with the water pump, thermostat, or cooling fan. Ensure proper flow through your cooling system and that your fan is operating as designed. The lack of heat from the heater is often a sign that coolant isn't circulating properly, which could mean air is trapped in the system after the expansion tank burst. Since your expansion tank recently burst, this could also indicate excess pressure buildup from a head gasket issue. To troubleshoot, try "burping" the cooling system to release trapped air, ensuring coolant flows freely. If the issue persists, check the water pump and thermostat for potential failure. Be cautious with overheating, which can lead to more severe engine damage.
