What is your question?
My warranty on my 2021 BMW X5 comes due at the end of March. I have been quoted &7,000-$9,000 for a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty (full comprehensive coverage). Technically I would have 3 more years of coverage. I drive it less than 10,000 per year & my current mileage is 30,500. So, am I better to take a chance & pay as I go or go with the warranty. I love the car & want to keep it. Your advice is appreciated.

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. This is a difficult question to answer because it's about taking a chance with a highly technical, expensive vehicle that is very expensive to fix. That said, that is a serious dollar amount for an extended warranty. I would definitely research before you buy that. I would get competitive quotes from multiple BMW dealerships about available warranty options that may even have the long-term with less mileage coverage since you won't use it. I think you'll find that you could purchase one for much less. As far as weather you will ever need a warranty: it's really anyone's gas. Everything might be just fine for years. Things may incrementally fail. Will things fail to the point that you will have expended the value that you would pay for the warranty? It's difficult to know. I think the important thing is to find a more economical option. I promise you that is a very high dollar amount and you can do better. Good luck.
