2010 BMW X5 computer sits under the engine exhaust where the cool down fan is also located I was told that the fan is not working which can cause the computer to overheat Fan cost $180. and labor cost is $450. Does these prices seem correct and how often does something like this happen (fan stops working).
What makes this problem better or worse?
I was just told last week by a recommended mechanic

Hello, I don't show any point of reference for the parts or labor of this repair. I do see that you have to remove the processor to get to the component, and that a diagnostic tool needs to be utilized as well. For effective pricing, contact some local shops near you to compare that quote to. As to the plausibility of your concern -- How have you tested and verified that the fan does not work and that replacing it will be a good repair?
