Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. So sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. It sounds like you're dealing with an electrical issue that might be causing your X5 to shut down. Since you've already checked the fuses, relays, and engine ground wire and replaced the ignition switch and positive cable, the problem could be related to a faulty battery or alternator, even though it seems to have good voltage. A weak or failing alternator might be unable to keep the battery charged, leading to the car shutting down after a short drive. Another possibility is an issue with the battery terminals or cables, where corrosion or a loose connection might be causing intermittent power loss. The EWS (immobilizer system) could also be a factor, but since you've bypassed it, that's less likely. If the car starts after removing and reconnecting the battery cables, it might indicate a reset of some electronic systems, but this isn't a permanent fix. To pinpoint the issue, you might want to have a professional check the alternator's output, battery health, and wiring connections thoroughly.
