why my camshaft position sensor keeps going out on my 2008 BMW X3?

My 2008 BMW X3 camshaft position sensor keeps going out. I have replace it once already and it has gone out. The symptoms are the several dash lights come on like the 4x4, brake light, airbag light, abs light all come on and the car runs rough and when turning and going in reverse it seems like there is a dragging going on. I would appreciate any help you could provide. Oh yeah I do have a engine oil leak on the car. Sincerely Kevin W Bennett

What makes this problem better or worse?

It seems to get worse when the engine get hot.
