What is your question?
I took my vehicle to a dealer for a diagnostic. When I took it to them it had 108273 miles on it. When I got it back 8 hours later it had 109746. It had an 1/8 of a tank of gas. They are telling me the key fob was wrong but the fob and the odometer matched until I took it to them. I took it to another mechanic and they can't find anything that would have caused it. Has anyone else had this problem?

Often when an advisor at a BMW dealership writes up the car repair order they take the mileage of the key reader data and not the actual mileage off your dash. Ask them for a copy of the key reader data print out. It will say on the top right side of the report "Key last updated.." with a date and time. If the key data was old the date should be further back then the day you took the car in for service. Did you give them the same key that you drove the car in for service or did you give them the other key? They key only updates when in use. If you have another key or a key used by another driver that wasn't used last the information in the key would be old and outdated. I wouldn't be surprised if the advisor didn't check to make sure it was correct. I promise you they did not tamper with your mileage. The odometer has a tamper indicator which is a dot on the odometer. You car has redundant systems that stores the mileage where if one is changed the other will override and show a tamper indicator. I'm sure it was just an honest mistake.
I gave them the key I used to drive it over to them. And it matched what I had on the odometer in the key reader. I will say that when we bought the vehicle the dealer didn't realize that the key was not "enabled" to the vehicle although it would allow use to drive. So I don't know if that might have something to do with it but it still questions how did the 1500 miles get put on the odometer?
