P0171 and P0174 codes after engine air filter change on X3

What is your question?

I have changed the engine air filter on my 2005 X3 several times. This time, I got a P0171 and P0174 OBD code after replacing the filter. I opened the filter box and reseated the filter gasket making sure the filter housing sits properly. Then I cleared the codes but after an hour of driving, the codes have reappeared. Vehicle has only 65K miles on it and runs well. Never had this problem before. Should I check the filter housing again?

What makes this problem better or worse?

vehicle runs fine, but the idle is a tad uneven - very slight shudder
