MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THERE ARE STRESS CRACKS IN THE FRAME AND IT IS COMMON ON THE M3 CONVERTIBLE AND THERE IS A KIT FOR $1,800.00 PLUS LABOR. WOULD THAT NOT BE A RECALL ISSUE. AS WELL THAT ONE VALE IS NOSIER AND THERE IS A VALVE KIT FOR THE CAR AS IT IS COMMON AND IT IS $1,600.00 PLUS LABOUR.

How long has your 2001 BMW M3 had this problem?

This was a big issues on may M3 models of that era. There was a partial payment type deal from BMW but I believe that has long past. Best bet to be sure is to call the dealer with your VIN number. Alex
