i have two codes one is p0720-output speed sensor circuit malfunction,and the other is p0731- gear 1 incorrect ratio. how can i fix these problems

im having some what of the same problem as my 318i 96 4dr has code po720 i have replaced the output sensor and still shows code ? is it the transmission control unit bad ? i really hope so what else could it be>?
