Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! First off, I’m sorry to hear about the fire—never a fun surprise, especially when it’s tied to a known issue. BMW has had several recalls over the years for electrical problems, including **positive battery cable connectors and junction boxes** that can overheat and cause fires. That said, a fire starting near the **front driver wheel hub** might point more toward a **brake caliper dragging, wheel bearing failure, or ABS wiring issue**—unless the positive cable was routed or damaged in that area. To find out if your car was part of a recall and whether it was ever completed, visit the NHTSA website (nhtsa.gov) and enter your VIN. If the recall was open and never addressed, you may have a case with BMW corporate. Document everything—photos, repair history, and any fire department or insurance reports.
