Hood latch on left (drivers) side has released. The right side will not and therefore, the hood will not open. I removed the right tire and attempted to see the cable with no success. HELP!

I had that same problem. you need to remove your grill. and take a air hammer to it. pushing it down is not going to do anything. trust me i know. The reason why that happens is cause after a long period of time and if you dont grease them they will be stuck. there is two parts to the hood cables. thats why when you try it that why of opening it wont work. you have to make sure you put some grease down on them to make sure that doesnt happen again. you might need to replace it also. most likely it is bent.
Have someone push down on that side of the hood while pulling the cable, sometimes that helps. Sometimes you can see the cable through the front grill and manually open the hood.
Crow bar, a really big long one. And then bend it. If that doesn't work, giant sledge hammer. Everything can be fixed with a left handed sledge hammer. But you have to ask yourself, "why do I want to open the hood this badly." Shouldn't the BMW mechanics be doing this for a lot of money. I mean it's not like you're going to check the transmission fluid. And all those electrical dash indicators will clearly tell you if something's wrong. If they're working that day, that is.
There are 2 releases: The interior latch pulls a small cable box located drivers side atop the wheel-well; the other is the little black latch located in passenger side grill. The cable meets at the cable box. To open the hood, remove the passenger side grill (it pulls out but be careful). Follow that cable to the driver-side where it connects to a horizontal pull. It will take a compact mirror to look for this latch and a small hook to pull the cable back toward the latch. The hood will open. Close the lid on the cable box mounted on top of driver-side fender well. I hope this helps. You may have to replace the junction box if broken but in most cases the lid is simply flipped open.
