What does the flashing "check" light mean?

What is your question?

I just changed the fuel pump and got the car running yesterday but during and before the fuel pump was replaced (so in the key on engine off position) the "check" light is always flashing.

Hello, You will need to retrieve the on-board diagnostics (OBD-1) trouble codes from the ECU. Normally when the light flashes, it is warning to turn the vehicle off immediately. Avoid operating the vehicle until diagnosed, and post trouble codes here for further advice.
