convertible top wont open

I had same problem with numerous other ailments until I came across an artical on E46fanatics.com of which suggested the ignition switch. Right away my radio, convertible top, brake lights etc started working after 3 mechanics, a dealership and a years time couldn't solve my convertible top prob. Another thing you can try is when you put your key in the door lock jig it twice to unlock and a third time hold in unlock position and the top goes down, as well.
