You should stop driving and have this towed in immediatly. I haven't heard of this exact problem on this model but either way its dangerous to drive a car that smells of smoke. Here is a link to find a shop near you. https://repairpal.com/repair-shop Alex
First let me say this sucks but it happened to me on the Florida turnpike I pulled into the plaza and went inside about 10 mins later started the car up and it had went away but 20 mins later it came back on when I tried to exelerate past a slower driving car to pass it, Bottom line I took it to the bmw shop and the ran a diagnostic on it and found out it was the fuel injector and the downstream oxygen sensor they wanted to charge me $2300 and some change so I took it to foreign affairs auto shop a place that only work on highend European automobiles and the did a diagnostic on it and got the exact same codes bye the way they charge me $1316 for the job but on replacing my fuel injector they found out that the oxygen sensor was not bad at all meaning the fuel injector can make it seem like the oxygen sensor is bad but it might not be so brothers and sisters I hope this can help you in your journey good luck
