2009 328i -recently loud fan noise when car has been running several minutes

Fan noise sounds like a redline high rev and does not shut off for several seconds after the car is turned off. It was isolated and random, now occurring with greater frequency. Also, noticed the car doing a little vibrational shimmy when ideling. 104K miles. A thermometer popped up on the dashboard warning lights only once.

driving for extended period worse, accelerating seems to make it stop
