What is your question?
My 2002 BMW 325xi has over 100,000 miles and is consuming oil at the rate of one quart a week. There is no leak visible. My mechanic says the engine is burning it. What is happening?

Could be leaking from valves into the cylinder. Do you notice any smoke coming out of the tail pipe?
Oil is less dense than water/coolant and therefore floats. With a properly functioning catalytic converter the oil in the exhaust will be burned in the converter, no blue smoke unless the converter becomes overloaded and damaged. Your mechanic is correct the engine is burning the oil. It might enter the combustion chamber past the piston rings. valve seals, PVC valve or some combination of the three.
Also oil is heavier then coolant u may be mixing and its just sitting at the bottom of the res.
Don't really notice any smoke from tailpipe.
