regarding 3.25i 2004 We are testing a car we want to buy. Engine and trans work great in all case s except 1 . When we pushed the accelerator to the floor the engine reved (properly maybe) , but then the ECU put the engine into safe mode. and the RPMs went up and down once a second from 800 to maybe 1300. both while limping to a parking lot and also after we put the tranny into park. The oscillation continued until we shut the engein off and turned back on. After that it worked properlay again. I can repeat the experiment over and over.
