Question - Jock, Boston, MA, February 09, 2010, 23:06 When drive off i notice that there is a humming sound, but as the the automatic changes to another gear it stops. Again when the car moves on a snail pace the same thing happens, and as it pickup speed it goes away. This sound also comes when i moves the steering to take a turn. Could it be that my power steering fluid is low or what can it be?

You will want to check your power steering fluid. If it is at all low it can make a very loud groaning noise when turning the steering wheel. PS fluid expands with heat so it will be more of an issue when cold. It could also be several other things. This is very difficult to answer without hearing it in person as cars can make a lot of different humming type noises.
Thanks I appreciate your comment.
