BMW325ci . Felt a clunk type feeling while at a red light. Then when I accelerated, there was no very little power, like it was in the wrong gear. Then noticed a 'gear light' on next to Tranny Light (D) on dash. It had the ! in the middle of it. Also noticed it was in 5th gear when in 'manual mode'. Could not get it out of 5th gear in manual mode. I could put the tranny into park, reverse, and neutral just fine, and in Drvie, but it would not go into 1st gear in auto...or any other gear. And that gear light is still on. No previous problems at all with tranny. Any ideas?

You have a transmission problem or a transmission computer problem or both. The flashing icon means that there is a code in your trans computer. It may just be a bad speed sensor, which is a pretty minor repair. But, by all means get it to a sharp BMW shop before serious damage occurs to your transmission.
Thank you Master! Been awhile since icould get back on. Had Switch reset and runnin like a charm. Going to have a tranny filter change and refill. Appreciate it!!!
