Overhears when a/c is on. Leaks coolant

First thing to do is to just replace your thermostat. Sounds like there is something going on with it internally that is causing the car to over heat. Also would look at the water pump to make sure that is it functioning correctly and the radiator to make sure that it does not have a hold somewhere.
