When driving, the area around the accelerator heats up..what do you think is the problem? Also, previously my power steering was very hard, i replaced the steering rack but there is no significant change.

Heat shield or similar component damaged or not re-installed correctly when steering rack was replaced and is now allowing heat from engine compartment to enter cabin at accelerator pedal area... (Occam's Razor)
