2003 Audi TT, starts but does not stay running

What is your question?

The car was being driven with out the splash guard/skid plate, ran into some wet weather, the instrument panel fuses went. After shutting down the engine it now starts but does not stay running. Do you believe it just needs to dry out or something more serious?
