Let the engine warm up. Wait until the coolant temperature gauge goes to the middle. At this point, the radiator fan should start to run. Open the hood and listen, when the fan kicks in you will hear its noise. Check the coolant temperature gauge, if it keeps going up and you can't hear the fan run, turn the engine off before it overheats because it means that there is a problem with fan.
