Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Timing chains are like the unsung heroes of your engine, quietly keeping everything in sync. For your 2012 Audi A6 with the supercharged 3.0 V6, replacing the timing chain can be a significant investment, both in terms of time and money. While I can't provide specific cost estimates, it's generally a good idea to consider replacing the chain as a preventive measure, especially with 150k miles on the clock. Check RepairPal's free online estimator to help get an idea of cost and parts to labor ratios. Timing chains are designed to last a long time, but they can wear out, and if they fail, it can lead to costly engine damage. Consulting with a trusted mechanic can give you a better idea of the condition of your chain and whether it's time for a replacement.
