Piston Ring Failure on 2011 A4 2.0T

Hello, the piston rings wouldn't be "failing", they could be "sticking" due to infrequent engine oil and filter changes or improper oil filtration. If piston rings are sticking, then in theory - the pistons could be removed and re-ringed. Cylinder walls would need to be inspected to ensure they are not terribly worn or scored. A used engine may be a less expensive endeavor -- but what's to say a used engine doesn't have a similar concern?
