Hello, That does not necessarily mean the TCM needs programming, but, obviously, it does call for diagnosis. Yes, flashing the TCM will sometimes fix quirks or transmission functional issues, but without diagnosing the issue, you may find you have wasted time and money. There may be an impedance to the signal going to the transmission, which would explain why the transmission will not work automatically. It may not know it is in drive, reverse, etc. At the very least, you should check all of your fuses, and make sure they all have good filaments.
