What is wrong with my sun roof?

Hoping you can help me out - the sun roof on my 2013 Acura TL is stuck in the
open position (not tilted, all the way open) and will not close. I have confirmed that the fuse is good, the
switch is not broken, and there is no manual crank to close it. I tried to use the
over ride to close all windows and sun roof but only the windows open/close,
not the sun roof. I brought it to the nearest shop and they got in touch with
Acura who told them that the module/motor most likely needs to be replaced
because it has died. Unfortunately the interior roof must be taken out in order
to replace the motor and the shop did not feel comfortable doing the job.
Regardless I'm still not 100% certain that's the root cause of the problem.
Has anyone had any history with this issue before or have any
recommendations to at the very least temporarily close the sun roof so that I
don't have to drive around with garbage bags tapped to my roof....
