Light came on last night, car died, towed home. Husband charged battery this morning and shop said bad alternator. We replaced alternator. Problem isn't fixed.

Check the alternator for output -- even if it has been replaced -- for proper voltage and amperage at 2,000 RPM of engine speed. Additionally, check the wiring connector at the alternator and make sure it's not melted or damaged in any way.
