Hello, the crankshaft position sensor almost never fails. The code may set during a stall because the signal is suddenly lost. But the stall is likely caused by other issues. I would check for fuel, air and spark mixtures - check for any other diagnosic trouble codes that may be set. If the concerns happen more often with a cold engine - it sounds like air getting in to the intake manifold without being controlled, causing running concerns.
